L’allattamento al seno è solitamente più economico.
Infatti viene stimato che le madri che allattano al seno risparmino da 1.200 a 1.500 USD durante il primo anno di vita del proprio bambino.31

Inoltre, sebbene l’allattamento non possa impedire che il tuo bambino si svegli la notte, ti permette di risparmiare tempo durante le poppate notturne e vi aiuta entrambi a riprendere sonno più velocemente; quindi, potrai dormire 40-45 minuti in più per notte.32
In realtà, l’allattamento permette di risparmiare più tempo in generale, poiché non devi lavare, sanificare, bollire l’acqua e preparare le bottiglie di latte artificiale: il tuo latte è sempre pronto alla temperatura giusta.

Inoltre, gli alimenti che assumi conferisco sapore al tuo latte; in questo modo il tuo bambino può sperimentare nuovi gusti a ogni poppata e apprezzare una più ampia varietà di alimenti quando inizia a nutrirsi con cibi solidi.33
L’allattamento al seno potrebbe anche favorire un’alimentazione più sana: le ricerche mostrano che i bambini allattati al seno le cui mamme consumano regolarmente frutta e verdura adorano mangiare questi alimenti in misura maggiore rispetto ai bambini le cui mamme non lo fanno. Al contrario, il latte in polvere ha sempre lo stesso sapore e anche l’utilizzo di marche diverse non riesce a riprodurre i complessi sapori del tuo latte.34
